No secret about it.  In 2015 The Europeans has run continuously since 2011. As was the intention.  The project ends then.

It started on Facebook in 2011 and later moved to flickr.  Facebook would not work with us, so we had to move.

If you follow the Facebook link and go to About you can read about the idea of the project. An anniversary celebration of Henri-Cartier Bresson and his project of the same name The Europeans. Sixty years since the publication of his book in France in 1955.

The idea is that there will be a book of some sort in 2015. Based on this project. To carry through the very best images. The options have not been closed yet.

We got lucky in our cooperation with doc! photo magazine. Four times a year a selected European country is celebrate with a display in that magazine. Next time it is Italy. Yes, and what can street photography in Italy be, when at its best, but neorealistic.  It was called the golden age of Italian cinema.

From cinema to photography there is but a small step.

Scenes from daily life and not much artistic fancy about it. Just as it should be in good street photography.

Yes, I could definitely make a black and white photo of the image above. Neorealism was in black and white. But this particular photograph works best in colour. I think. Shot in Italy. Spotorno 2001.

Good day to you all.  See you in October. In Italy.
