What a complete surprise.
I have got mail. A book from my friend Professor Chan-fai Cheung. He has recently retired from Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he served for more than 20 years. He has sent me a copy of his new book EarthScape.
It came this morning.
Until recently Professor Chan-fai Cheung was Director of University General Education and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Philosophy. At the same time. How is that for photography?
I met Chan-fai Cheung in Berlin in 2011 and we went shooting together for most of a day. Pleasant, pleasant memories. June 21st it was.
Professor Chan-fai Cheung was educated in Europe in phenomenology. His great passions outside the academic world is photography. Inside it is phenomenology.
Both books mentioned are photo books including introductory essays. There is particularly one essay that I look forward to read: Towards a Phenomenology of Areal Photographic Art, written by Chan-fai Cheung himself. I will keep you posted.
Thank you, Chan-fai Cheung. I really look forward to reading and seeing your new book. Thanks for the nice gift. Signed and all.
